A big part of wellness for me is learning new things and getting out of your comfort zone. Have you ever tried EAL? What is EAL? I didn’t understand what it was until I actually did it. EAL stands for Equine Assisted Learning.
What I got out of it was understanding life lessons thru working with horses. This was both educational and fun at the same time.
We started off in a classroom-like setting, learning about how we are similar and different to horses. Then we got to groom and work with the ponies. It was fun to learn how to read what the pony was trying to tell you non-verbally.
My favorite part was going to the pasture to do the obstacle course. One of the activities we did was getting your pony to stand on a glove. My daughter got hers to do it right away, but it took me forever to get mine to listen to me! This was my biggest take away from the day for me. My pony wasn’t listening to me because I was looking back at him instead of looking forward. I learned that to lead a horse you need to look the direction you want to go, which also translates into life. Always look forward at things to come instead of looking back with regrets.
Other activities we did were getting the pony to go backwards, walking them around cones, getting them to stop moving. and learning how to change their harness. Although, I think the funniest thing of the night was when my pony just laid down and started rolling on the ground! Everyone was laughing but it turns out that ponies do that when they are really relaxed around you.
Doing EAL was a great experience for the whole family. We all learned a lot and had fun doing it. It was also amazing to me how you forget about everything else going on in your life while you are doing this. I was definitely a great stress-relieving activity!
If you are looking for a different activity. give EAL a try. Karen has lots of fun and different programs to fit everyone’s interests. Give her a call at 330/507-5172.
Your Future Health
The premier blood testing and customized nutrition analysis company since 1976.
We found out how important when our daughter got sick! We had struggled for years not knowing what was actually wrong with her. We tried all kinds of things to get her healthy with no luck. I had known about blood testing all along, but I knew having worked with vitamins for years that they take time. I just wanted her better NOW!
Well, turns out I wasted lots of time trying everything else. Once we got her blood tested and got her on the right diet and vitamins… we started seeing improvement. This is actually when we were introduced to the BEMER. By using the BEMER, the vitamins and nutrients got to the cells faster and we started getting the results we were hoping for by speeding up the recovery time!
Ellie Cullen, owner of YFH has been wonderful to work with. I owe my daughter’s well-being to her. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have worked with her!
I highly recommend if you are struggling with something or you want to be proactive about your health that you check out www.yourfuturehealth.com.
Here are Ellie’s Reasons why you need to have your blood tested:
First, your blood reflects the current condition of virtually every aspect of your body. If you’ve got a cold, your blood analysis will reflect it. A consistent elevation of blood sugar is evidence of diabetes. There is very little about your biological condition that your blood does not reveal.
Second, your blood chemistry reflects pending diseases well in advance of symptoms. So regular, comprehensive blood testing allows emerging medical problems to be dealt with in the earliest, most treatable stages.
Third, when the results of your blood tests aren’t the best, you can almost always improve them through diet and vitamin supplements—that is, through nutrition. We cannot emphasize this point more strongly. We have seen, time and time again, that a nutritional program customized to each person’s unique biochemistry is the most effective way to help prevent or solve just about every health problem. In extreme cases, medical treatment and drugs may be necessary, but the vast majority of our clients have responded quite well to dietary changes alone. A nutrition plan customized to each person’s biochemistry (determined from blood analysis) very effectively balances the nutrients which are most essential to good health.

If you are looking for a spa-like experience for your dog, check out Chelle’s Paw Spa in Mentor, OH. We take both our dogs to Chelle’s Paw Spa and they love it. They aren’t scared to go in there. I used to have to carry them into the groomers to get a bath. Michelle has a great space and a big yard that they can roam around in while they are waiting to get picked up. She completely spoils the dogs and makes sure they go home all pampered and smelling great. Her prices are very reasonable too! You can tell she really cares for the dogs and this isn’t just a job for her. Check out the cute video she sent us when it was time to pick the dogs up…
Chelle’s Paw Spa also does dog boarding. If you want to get more information check them out at https://chellespawspa.com/ or call Michelle at 330/618-1804.
We also like to do this when we go out to eat. It is fun to get something on the menu that you wouldn’t normally eat. You might surprise yourself on the different foods that you like. Try going to a Chinese, Mexican, or Indian restaurant and ordering several dishes for the table to share. This is a great way to try new food that you wouldn’t order on your own.
Another fun thing to do is buy different ingredients on vacation and take them home to cook with. It is a great reminder of your trip. We’ve tried different jams and jellies, fruits, popcorn, mustards, and different sauces. Great souvenir idea without adding more stuff to your house!
When the nice weather starts, I like to clean my screens for the summer. You would be surprised to see how dirty they get. The recipe I use is very easy to make, it smells great and it is made with only three ingredients! Happy Cleaning!
Screen Cleaner Recipe
1 cup water
1 tsp baking soda
2-3 drops cinnamon essential oil
Mix all ingredients together. Place in a spray bottle. Spray your screens and wipe clean with a rag.
,One way my family gives back is to foster kittens. A couple years ago, we had a feral cat who had kittens under our shed. We had no idea how to get them out of there and someone suggested that we call Community Cats. I called and they said they could come trap the mom to get her spayed but they had no fosters to take the kittens at that time. This is where our fostering kittens journey began!
Now it is one of our favorite things to do! We love helping these tiny kittens find forever homes. We take them in when they are little and make sure they are healthy and friendly for when they are old enough to be adopted. It is so rewarding to do this that I think we get as much out of it as the kittens do.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting a cat or kitten, the organization that we work with is Community Cat Companions. (You can download a foster or adoption application from their website.) Community Cat Companions is a Trap-Neuter-Return organization, located in Euclid, Ohio, with subsidiaries throughout Lake and Ashtabula Counties. Our organization traps, sterilizes and vaccinates stray and feral cats, returning them to their outdoor home or placing adoptable cats and kittens in permanent homes.

I try to have snacks around that are healthy for when the munchies strike. These roasted almonds are a great choice. They are easy to make, last a long time, and they are good for you. I keep them in the car, in my purse, and at home for snacking. You only need two ingredients! Almonds and Braggs Liquid Aminos.
3 cups almonds
1 TBSP liquid aminos
1 TBSP water
Measure the almonds into a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the water with the liquid aminos. Dump over almonds and mix until they are all coated. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a 200 degree oven for 8-9 Hours. Let them cool and store in an air-tight container.
